  1. Vitamin C - Good inside and out

    Most citrus fruit is known for it's free radical-neutralizing Vitamin C when taken internally.

    However, used in skincare products,Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid provides effective and immediate benefits such as glowing, toned and brighter skin.

    Clients with concerns of hyperpigmentation will benefit from pigment reducing properties from natural alpha hydroxy acids. But the list of benefits is long.

    * Helps to fight free radicals

    * Repairs and rejuvenates

    * Assists with wound healing

    * Provides antibacterial and antioxidant support.

    * Encourages cell turnover

    Many skincare products from cleansers, toners, serums and moisturizers contain citric acid.

  2. Lush Lashes

    Clients are looking for solutions to short and sparse lashes.

    Short or sparse lashes are sometimes caused by physical,chemical or biological stressors. This could include age, hormonal changes. poor diet, sickness or poor diet and even excessive sun exposure.

    However, there are products that can help stimulate lash and even brow growth on a cellular level.

    A serum can help stimulate lashes and brows by enhancing follicle penetration of key ingredients and improve the appearance and health of lash follicles.

    Used regularly, lash serums can enhance and protect lashes by providing hydration. Well hydrated lashes tend to be healthy lashes.

    One of our favorite lash enhancing products is.

  3. Three steps to better Skin

    1) Keep it Clean: Exposure to environmental pollutants, both indoors and out can cause premature skin aging, pigmentation spots and acne, dermatitis and psoriasis. To counter the effects of pollution on clients’ skin, emphasize a skincare regimen that includes: an antioxidant serum and a barrier protection product in the morning; and a thorough, non-stripping cleanser and calming, moisturizing and nourishing skin recovery system before bed. It is important to cleanse your face at night because it has to fight the pollution, bacteria and dirt that may remain on the skin from the day.

    2) Drink Up: Failure to get enough fluids can dry out the skin and leave it more vulnerable to signs of aging. The ideal amount of water consumption varies, depending on factors including body weight and activity levels, but the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, recommends daily averages of 9 cups for women and 13 cups for men. It’s also worth advising clients that certain medications can lead to dehydration, as can extreme weather and excessive sweating, smoking and ingesting too much alcohol or caffeine. Above all, encourage them to be proactive with water intake, rather than wait until they feel thirsty.

    3) Get Moving: Physical activity can do wonders for the complexion. In fact, a study led by researchers at McMaster University in Ontario, Canada, suggested exercise may slow or even reverse skin aging. Ultimately, every lifestyle choice, from nutrition and hydration to workouts and relaxation, has the potential to boost overall health, as well as the health of the body’s largest organ.

  4. Preparing your clients for Summer Skin

    It is important to educate clients on the proper use of sun protection and the difference between a sunblock and a sunscreen.
    A sunblock is opaque and stronger than sunscreen, as it is able to block most of the UVA/UVB rays and radiation from the sun, and does not need to be reapplied several times in a day. Titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are common ingredients in sunblock.
    A sunscreen is more transparent once applied to the skin and also has the ability to protect against UVA/UVB rays, although sunscreen's ingredients have the ability to break down at a faster rate once exposed to sunlight, and some of the radiation is able to penetrate to the skin. In order for sunscreen to be more effective it is necessary to consistently reapply and use one with a higher sun protection factor.
    *Even when using SPF regularly, it is important to re-apply! Sunscreen starts breaking down the second it leaves the bottle, and it’s important to re-apply every two hours.
    *Also important for skins health is proper hydration. The heat of summer causes lots of fluid loss, especially through sweating. Drinking lots of fluids like water will hydrate not only the body but the skin.
    *After Sun Repair
    Apply cooling balms generously over-exposed skin, preferably at the first sight of a pink glow.

  5. Medical Grade vs Department Store Skincare

    Clients often ask why they should purchase products from their doctor or aesthetician. It is up to us as professionals to educate our clients on the benefits of medical grade skincare.

    They are often lured to popular “over-the-counter” brands, because of their advertisements, packaging and of course, the price. But those products can’t fix real skin problems.
    There are MANY reasons why we recommend medical grade skincare products, but here are the 3 main reasons why they work better than over-the-counter products:
    1. Medical Grade Skincare products have higher concentrations of active ingredients than over-the-counter products do. The reason why they can have higher concentrations is because those products are being dispensed and overseen by a Doctor or Physician. Products from a department store are formulated for everyone and anyone, and aren’t being overseen by a Doctor, so they can only have small amounts of those active ingredients.
    2. In order to get real results from a skincare product, treatment needs to be directed toward deeper layers of the skin. Over-the-counter products can only work on the epidermis (the outer layer of skin) where the skin cells are starting to shed. Medical Grade Skincare products can actually penetrate into deeper layers of the skin. These products work all the way down to the dermis (middle layer of skin) where the elastin and collagen are contained, as well as the basal (bottom layer of skin) where new cells are produced.
    3. Medical Grade products provide real results! They have been scientifically published in medical journals, and have been proven to work. Medical Grade Products can actually transform the skin because the ingredients can repair skin at the deep layers, where the problems arise and can be where skin cells are produced and where the elastin and collagen are contained.
    With Medical Grade Products, you can effectively treat fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, acne, sun spots and many other skin care issues.

  6. The Power of Peptides

    Peptides are chains of amino acids attached together like a fence. The job of the chain is to deliver specific messages to the skins cells.
    When a chain of amino acids is more than 100 amino acids long, it is usually called a protein.
    When it contains fewer than 100 amino acids in a specific chain, it is then a peptide

    The body contains 20 different amino acids. Different peptides and proteins are comprised of different combinations and sequences of amino acids.

    Each peptide influence cells in some way are are proven to provide measurable results in anti-ageing.
    They block the signals from the nerves to facial muscles and the contraction of muscles and enhance the assembly of elastin and collagen, resulting in an improvement in firmness.

    This metal is an excellent free-radical fighter.
    It helps to stabilize cosmetic ingredients by preventing them from Oxidizing
    Platinum also helps to brighten and plump the skin.

    Used to reduce inflammation and brighten skin.
    Gold based skincare products are excellent in reducing imperfections such as blemishes and fine lines.
